Killeigh 1 v Tullamore Under 11 Boys:
This was a keenly fought battle between close neighbours. Both teams were evenly matched until a minute before the half time whistle still being nil all. Tullamore caught Killeigh on the counter attack and got their first of the day. Missing their usual Keeper, Sean Courtney took up position between the posts and had a great game making save after save for the home side. Aaron Flanagan, Darci Flaherty and Diarmuid Walsh made some hard tackles to keep the visitors out for the half. Mark Dillon Moragan Mcdonagh and Luke Garry along with Eoin Beirne made wave after wave of attacks eventually being rewarded when Mark scored an excellent header in the second half.
Due to a number of the usual squad being off sick, the 11's brought up some of the talented u10 squad. Billy Gorman, Ben O'Brien and Ryan showed some great skill when they came on to help the 11 squad, but Tullamore came out worthy winners in the end. Thanks to the u10s for their help and Man of the Match went or Darci Flaherty for a strong performance throughout.

Killeigh 1 Abbeyleix 5 Under 14 Boys.
This was a cracker of a game and the first leg of the Cup for the boys. The Killeigh lads started very well and the team looked very strong with a bag load of chances not being converted. Abbeyleix were first to score on the 20th and again in the 25th minute. David Buckley got one back for the home side on the 30th minute, when Darryl Maher used his pace down the left wing and crossed to Buckley who had made his run on the right. Cian Delaney, Darragh Norris, Adam Kelly and Peter Walsh and Keeper Colin McGrath were tried numerous times in defence but kept the slate 2-1 at the break.
The second half saw Abbeyleix come out with a new impetus and they got 3 more goals in this half. Midfielders for Killeigh were Cathal Curran, Jack Malone Adam Galvin, David Keyes and Brion Carroll and they worked hard throughout, while up front John-Paul Casey, and Ray Daly applied the pressure. CJ Reilly, Nathan Valentine also had chances but were unfortunate not to get results. Colin Keogh was solid in defence when he was introduced in the 2nd half at left full.

Portlaoise- 1 v Killeigh- 9 Under 15 Boys
The lads travelled over to Portlaoise on a dry morning hoping for a good start to this years Shield run. It all started very brightly with the Killeigh lads taking the game by the scruff of the neck. They started this match wth a 4-3-3 formation and the gameplan was to attack. The two flying wingers of Gavin Mooney and Peter Norris tore into the back four of Portlaoise and played the ball up to the wonderful Jack O Brien who menaced the centre backs all game. The first goal came after a free on the left. In the midfield left was Breandan Crilly and he put in a low hard drive which missed everyone and nestled into the corner of the net. The boys were off. Soon they were rampaging forward with John Tobin and Jake Naughton also in midfield controlling the game. With a few dodgy off sides given against the boys they soon found the balance and as Mooney broke forward in on the keeper he hit the post and as the ball rebounded out he was quick enough to get the finish. Two nil. The pressure was kept on and from a corner Jake Naughton tapped in the third. The Portlaoise lads didnt give up though and they took an opportunity well when Kevin Keenahan who was superb throughout came out and met the ball which sliced to a Portlaoise player who blasted in from high from about 35 yards. Three one. The fourth Killeigh goal was a penalty after Tobin was fouled in the box, ably despacted by Crilly with great aplomb leaving the keeper with no chance.

After half time, the back four who were brilliant, Keelan O Brien, Mark Devery, David Mullery and Jack Cunnningham, were totally in charge, and began to exert more pressure on the Portlaoise midfield as they pushed up higher on the play. It was Devery who took the ball down on the left went past one, then two, then three, flying down the left wing he had three men lining up for the ball in the middle, and then the cross came it was met by Naughton for his second. A truly great goal and especially the run by Devery. The boys were rampant, they had chance after chance, Stephen Dwane who had come on, was on fire, and he was there for the tap in for the sixth. The seventh was a great run after a break in the middle by Naughton for his hatrick, a great run and score. But Dwane wasn't finished yet, he had come on with JP Gorman and Alan Rushe, and they were peppering the opposition goals with shots, and being denied by the keepers efforts, and eventually Dwane scored his second, another tap in. Great positioning from the wily striker. And finally the ninth came for Tobin, who made great running all day and was denied a goal when the penalty was given earlier, but he made up for it and scored a tap in near the final whistle. Nine one to the boys. I guess Portlaoise won't be too confident coming to Killeigh for the second leg. Man of the match was Mark Devery. Well done to all the boys.
