INFO & NEWS
READINGS FOR BAPTISM:-

THE WORD OF GOD

READING 1

A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Romans:

Do you not know that all of us
who have been baptised into Christ Jesus
were baptised into his death?
We were buried therefore with him
by baptism into death,
so that as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father,
we too might walk in newness of life.
If we have been united with him
in a death like his,
we shall certainly be united with him
in a resurrection like his.

The word of the Lord.

All; Thanks be to God.

  or

 READING 2

A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians.

For just as the human body is one
and has many members,
and all the members of the body,
though many, are one body,
so it is with Christ.
For by the one Spirit
we were all baptised into one body,
and all made to drink of the one Holy Spirit.

The word of the Lord.

All; Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Response is :-

The Lord is my shepherd there is nothing I shall want.

The Lord is my shepherd
there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures
where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me
to revive my drooping spirit.  R.

He guides me along the right path,
he is true to his name.
If I should walk in the valley of darkness
no evil would I fear.
You are there with your crook and your staff,
with these you give me comfort.  R

You have prepared a banquet for me
in the sight of my foes.
My head you have anointed with oil;
my cup is over flowing.  R.

Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me
all the days of my life.
In the Lords own house shall I dwell
for ever and ever.  R.

GOSPEL

               READING 1

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark

One of the scribes came up and put a question to Jesus.
'Which is the first of all the commandments?'
Jesus replied,
'This is the first:
Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one Lord,
and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You must love your neighbour as yourself.
There is no commandment greater than these.'

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

All:  Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Priest:  Let us on this happy day
ask God our Father
to look lovingly on this child
who is to be baptised,
and on his/her parents and godparents.

Reader;

By the mystery of your death and resurrection,
bathe this child in light,
give him/her the new life of baptism
and welcome him/her into your holy church.
Lord hear us.

Lord, graciously hear us.

Through baptism and confirmation,
make him/her your faithful follower
and a witness to your gospel.
Lord hear us.

Lord, graciously hear us.

Lead her/him by a holy life
to the joys of God’s kingdom.
Lord hear us.

Lord, graciously hear us.

May the lives of his/her parents
and godparents
be examples of faith to inspire this child.
Lord hear us.

Lord, graciously hear us.

Keep his/her family always in your love.
Lord hear us.

Lord, graciously hear us.

Renew the grace of Baptism for each one of us.
Lord hear us.

Lord, graciously hear us.
