U20 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 2
Na Fianna U20 Footballers brought the curtain down on the 2025
playing campaign for the club as they bowed out of the Championship with defeat
to neighbors St Vincents in Rd 2 last Sunday morning in Ballycommon on a
scoreline of 4-12 to 1-08. St Vincents hit the ground running as they opened
the scoring with the first 4 points before getting the first 2 pointer from
play in the 14th minute. Na Fianna who had shot some poor wides finally got off
the mark in the 20th minute with a goal when Stevie Byrne won a St Vincents
kickout on the left sideline sending it down the line to Aaron Rattigan in the
left corner who in turn shot it into the square where it was caught by Ryan
Kinahan who turned and blasted it to the net. St Vincents got another 2 pointer
this time from a placed ball in the 25th minute with Na Fianna responding with
2 points of their own from Danny Gorman and Conor Bracken before St Vincents
struck for their goal with the last kick of the half to take a lead of 1-08 to
1-02 into the break. St Vincents started the second half as they finished the
first by grabbing their second goal with the first attack from the throw in. Na
Fianna did respond with 3 points by the 8th minute from Cian Malone, Cein
Gorman and Ryan Kinahan but St Vincents quashed any hopes of a comeback scoring
2-01 by the midpoint of the half followed by 2 more points by the 20th minute.
The sides then exchanged a point apiece before Na Fianna did get the final
